WWD can digitize your collection of books, journals, manuscripts, and other bound materials in order to facilitate their distribution, preservation, and archival for the benefit of your company or organization. Bound documents are scanned using the latest state-of-the-art book scanning equipment and software technology, including digital SLR technology for rare or fragile documents. WWD has the capability to provide services for a variety of bound materials, assuring the highest quality, timely turnaround, and cost effective approaches to each unique client requirement.Whether your task involves destructive scanning (removing covers, glue, stitches, etc.) or non-destructive scanning (material is preserved in its original condition), WWD staff always provides the level of care required, including lint free gloves and climate controlled scanning areas to assure that all documents are preserved in their original condition. Specialized software is used to enhance the image quality, necessary for print-on-demand eBooks. Some of the enhancements include despeckling, deskewing, text enhancement, image registration, and more. Color, grayscale, and black and white scanning is performed at resolutions as high as 9600 dpi, and a variety of other services such as optical character recognition (OCR) and PDF conversion are also provided. After the scanning is completed, WWD can then transform this digital content into a multiple number of long lasting digital formats for ease of use and viewing. Utilizing industry standard formats such as XML and other tagged formats to convert, reuse, and present information on the web, WWD can help your company find new value in your bound collections. |
