Optical Character RecognitionWWD's optical character recognition (OCR) processes are designed to read, extract, and store printed information electronically from a variety of scanned source materials. Several different OCR engines are used depending on the task size, the quality of the original source document, and the output.
WWD's OCR processing service is used to capture the full text of the imaged documents. The OCR can be performed in many languages and can be provided with or without manual cleanup, depending on the quality of the output required. Modern single-engine and multi-engine processes, along with specialized ranking and voting algorithms, are applied for increased recognition accuracy to meet the customer's needs. Output can be either as embedded text (such as PDF format) or in ASCII format for importing into a variety of document management systems, including Concordance® and Summation™.Zone extraction can also be performed to extract information from specific areas of documents and populate database records. |
